Rope Access Solutions

Industrial Rope Access Services for Ontario and beyond since 2011

Industrial rope access involves work tasks performed above and below ground by certified technicians using ropes to access areas of facilities and structures where other types of access are impractical, expensive or unsafe.

Tundra Rope Access provides rope access services in two main ways:

1. Provision of industrial contactor services. In this option Tundra’s own technicians do the work. This could be cleaning, coating, maintenance, refurbishment, inspecting, making adjustments and installations. The size of the technician team depends on the scale of the task.

2. Provision of safe access and standby services. When our client staff are required to work at heights, above or below ground, we can provides systems and staff to facilitate access for them and act in a standby rescue capacity to assist them in the event of problems. This often happens when there is a specific requirement that our technical cannot complete or be trained to complete.

Tundra uses highly trained SPRAT and / or IRATA certified supervisors and rope access and / or NFPA methodologies as required, to safely reach work areas, reducing costs and shutdown times, and assisting with business continuity.

Case Studies

Construction: Water Main Sensor Cable Modification, Hybrid Confined Space and High Angle Safety

Our client, a very large water technology company, had a requirement to make modifications to sensitive instruments located almost 1km underground through a tunnel network.

Tundra Rescue successfully designed and implemented a hybrid access solution involving both high angle rope and confined space rescue technicians, and were specifically praised in client’s post-completion review of the project.

Building Maintenance: Painting of Amphitheatre Facade Over Water

Tundra Rescue deployed a team of rope access technicians to complete cleaning and painting of the facade of a popular amphitheatre in Toronto Ontario.

Our technicians completed the work while suspended on rope above water, where alternative access methods would have been challenging and restrictive.

The work was completed within a rigid timeline, exceeding customer expectations.

Wind Energy and Rope Access: Turbine Nacelle and Tower Cleaning

In response to a need for the cleaning of a wind turbine nacelle and tower, our technicians safely and efficiently gained access to the turbine exterior in order to successfully clean the structure.

Implementing a SPRAT two-rope Rope Access system, with in-depth onsite risk assessment, fully redundant backup safety systems and internal rescue capacity enable our teams to comfortably meet the demands of the project.
